Dertavitian Family :: Griffith Observatory Family Photos

I don’t always shoot family portraits, but when I do, I chase kids and let them take pictures with my camera. Such a fun day shooting with this lil family! I usually have to break the ice when meeting new kids before they open up, but I got a hug and some hand shakes from these boys. Absolutely adorable. Araxi, you and Nick make beautiful, fun-loving kids. I have to admit it was a different kind of family shoot, more like a field trip with no tour guide and a race against dinner time. I can’t remember the last time when editing pictures was as fun as the shoot, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. Araxi and Nick, thank you so much for trusting me with capturing your family, and if you guys are up to it next year, I’m in! 🙂

nick D - Wow Joel! These came out so darn awesome! Thank you so much. I dig the one of Steffen wearing my glasses.

Araxi - These are beautiful Joel and represent my little family so well! I can’t thank you enough!

Ana + Diego :: Elegant Affairs Wedding Photos

I’ve known Ana for over 12 years, seeing her through my viewfinder as she was getting ready to marry Diego was that much more special to me. We’ve been through some challenging times together and so I’ve always felt compelled to be there for her in any way I can. It’s funny how through the years we would loose touch for a minute, run into each other and just pick up where we left off. When we shot Ana and Diego’s engagement sesh a couple months back it was so awesome to see them exchange looks of endearment and whispering to each other in Spanish. Now, I am proficient in this language that hails from the America’s of the south, but not when it’s whispered and certainly not in gibberish of the toddler-esque persuasion. Anyhow, Diego is one lucky man, and I was so happy to see her laughing and heart out through the day. It was picture perfect. No pun intended…

Thank you two for trusting in me to capture these moments, I wish you guys lots of love and the very best!

Sheila - Joel you rock beautiful pictures I have your card … Hope it’s me hiring you soon 😉

Diana + Brian :: Robinson’s Ranch Golf Club Wedding Photos

I had the wonderful honor to shoot my sister-in-law’s wedding. It was fast-paced, hectic, everyone running late, screaming and yelling kind of day. But hey, that’s just about everyday with my in-laws! 😉 As everyone was having a meltdown around me, I put my experience to good use and packed some grease on their squeaky wheel. Sometimes assuring someone that everything will be alright is all they need to hear, setting everything in perspective. I remember Diana as a teenager always the smarty pants giving my friends a hard time. Off to college she went, and suddenly she’s a college graduate. Then she met Brian, the ring, the planning, and here we are. Time flies and its weird that the little snarky girl that recorded herself singing Disney songs was now a graceful lady floating down the aisle. So happy and proud of them both.

Diana and Brian, thank you so much for trusting me and my crew in capturing your big day! I wish you guys the very best and I hope you guys are enjoying your honeymoon! To see more of Diana and Brian, check out their engagement photos here.
