Keepin It Real

When I shoot family portraits I become apart of the family. Yes I know this requires some explanation.  My interpretation of family portraits should depict the family as they are.  The reaction I’m looking for is, “that is sooo you in that picture!”  So, in order for me to capture the real you (and your family) is to get real emotional reactions and understanding each individuals’ personality.  I really put my all into taking pictures, so a tiny little piece of me goes into the pictures I take.  My favorite pictures will always hold a special place in my heart and a spot here on my blog.  So when you frame your favorite family picture I took and hang it lovingly in your home just remember that a little piece of me is right up there with your family. 🙂  Aaand not in a creepy way…

I love shooting in San Diego!  Every time I’ve shot in the SD it’s been slightly overcast and the conditions were just perfect.  The Aguilar’s wanted to do something a little different from last year’s shoot.  So, downtown it was!  “The Aguilar’s Go to The City”  It’s an awesome children’s book in the making for sure.  So, here’s Isabel, Christina and Raul…

Daddy and Isabel.

Isabel was upset because they closed the playground on us.

I was impersonating a traffic cop for this shot and people were waving and giving me a thumbs up! Or, at least, I think those were thumbs…

We found lots of nice spots that made goodie-good light.

It might be hard to tell by these pictures of a very happy Isabel, but she’s a tough cookie.  So I brought milk, lots of it.  Turned her into a lil softee.  Hah! I made a funny…

Captivated.

Nothing made her laugh more than her daddy’s shoulder. Her happy place.

So, word round the camp fire is that when they were kids, Christina and Raul were tough guys.  You couldn’t tell with the plastic toy keys in Raul’s back pocket and the Bugaboo stroller Christina was flossin.  But hey, that’s thug life and that’s how they roll. 😉

Given the lil moments they had together they were just a cute lovey-dovey couple that makes me wish I was shooting 5 years ago and could’ve shot their engagement/wedding.  😉

So, when you’re getting your picture taken just keep in mind that pictures are captured in a fraction of a second and whatever was going through your mind at that very moment in time is what your get.  So make sure that your heart is smiling to, trust me it makes everyone’s day way easier.  Plus, there’ll be bomb pictures in the end.  And to photogs, keep it real yo.  Nuff said…
